What are your main
responsibilities?

A mechatronics technician is a tech all-rounder. In my job, I use my mechanical, electrical and IT know-how to build machines. As an apprentice, my workday is quite varied and my main tasks depend on the department I work in. I am mostly involved in mounting and repairing machines. This involves wiring switch cabinets or, for example, starting up the conveyor system, shuttles or robots. I also assist my colleagues in the various departments and learn from their experience.

What kind of education, experience or interests should you have for your job?

My apprenticeship requires no previous experience, but you should have a keen interest in tech and machines. I first finished high school and then worked full-time for a year. After that, I started studying at the Technical University of Graz. About 2.5 years later, I left university and applied for a job at KNAPP. The apprenticeship is the perfect work environment for me to further develop and fine-tune my practical skills.

My Job:

Varied. Interesting. Challenging.

What do you like most about your job?

I like that my job is never the same. In every department, I get to know new people and my work also keeps changing. Whenever a new machine or system is assembled, I’m involved right from the start. This is providing me with sound knowledge of all the processes. In recent years, I have built up a thorough technical understanding, which helps me a lot at what I do.

Why do you enjoy working for KNAPP?

I appreciate the fact that KNAPP offers many opportunities for professional growth. Success to me means applying my knowledge and seeing concrete results right away.  Another personal plus is the short commute as I live near the company.
