Automatic storage systems for efficient fulfillment

Shuttle system or mini load for your ASRS? There are many options for automated small parts warehouses. What is important is not the technology, but the answer to the question: Does the system ideally support your logistics processes? Our shuttle systems are so much more than just an ASRS. They integrate important processes and applications such as picking, buffering, sequencing of both goods and orders as well as supplying work stations. All this makes the automated storage system the cornerstone of modern logistics processes. As a pioneer and leading supplier of shuttle systems, our smart solutions have the answers to today’s demands and trends in intralogistics. Our portfolio is rounded off by a selection of stacker cranes and rapid buffer towers.

OSR Shuttle™ Evo optimizes processes in production and distribution

The OSR Shuttle Evo is an automated small parts warehouse that securely stores various types of goods or raw materials in a space-efficient manner. Various sizes of containers, cartons and trays with loads of up to 50 kilograms (110 lb) can be stored multi-deep or stacked in the shuttle system. This is what makes the OSR Shuttle Evo the heart of intelligent and efficient processes in production and distribution. The flexibility of the shuttle system is what allows it to handle so many different processes, such as:

  • Storing raw materials, goods, stock and overstock
  • Picking customer-specific orders
  • Buffering orders or semi-finished products
  • Replenishing automated and manual picking areas
  • Supplying production lines or assembly areas
  • Sequencing goods and orders

Kramp beefs up customer service with automated storage system OSR Shuttle™ Evo

The international Kramp Groep with headquarters in Varsseveld, the Netherlands, was founded in 1951 as a one-person operation. Today, Kramp is Europe’s largest specialist for spare parts and agricultural supplies and is on course for strong growth. In keeping with their slogan, “It’s that easy”, smooth logistics and great customer service are the cornerstones of Kramp’s success. For several years, Kramp has been relying on the intelligent automation solutions by KNAPP for its warehouse logistics. In order to support further growth and to further optimize the service for their customers, Kramp selected a new automation solution that utilizes the brand-new OSR Shuttle Evo for the distribution center at the company headquarters in Varsseveld.

  • + 500,000 spare parts
  • Shipping across Europe
  • Their promise: Overnight or next-day delivery

Hear the whole story about how Kramp used the OSR Shuttle Evo to optimize their processes.

Our customers’ needs are changing, and we’ve got to be even more flexible. The OSR Shuttle Evo offers us the flexibility we need. We can pull precise sequences right out of the system. Moreover, the system is data-driven and KNAPP has their own IT. This is what was important to us

The goods are delivered to the woman using the goods-to-persons (GtP) principle. She is looking at a touch screen that is equipped with the easyUse user interface. This makes work at the work stations easier and optimizes quality and usability. The Pick-it-Easy picking work station improves ergonomics for employees in the warehouse.

Easy picking. A fast shuttle system combined with the ergonomic work stations of the Pick-it-Easy series means that rapid, accurate order processing is assured.

Two autonomous mobile robots, the Open Shuttles, meet in an warehouse environment. The intelligent autonomous mobile robots (AMR) are equipped with sensors so they can safely avoid each other. Each Open Shuttle transports one container with goods. Autonomous mobile robots reliably transport goods within warehouses and companies.

A fetching combination. Pairing our autonomous mobile robots, the Open Shuttles, with the powerful shuttle system gives rise to the system solution OSR Shuttle Evo+. This solution provides an added plus in flexibility to warehouse processes.

The sorter pockets are conveyed with the aid of a pocket sorter system. One item of goods is transported in each sorter pocket. Each sorter pocket in the pocket sorter system is equipped with an RFID transponder. Thus each sorter pocket in the pocket sorter system can be easily retrieved.

Scalable storage tower for containers, trays and more: Fastbox

The Fastbox is a rapid storage and buffer tower with a lift system. Usually connected to a Pick-it-Easy work station, it perfectly complements a storage system such as the OSR Shuttle. A Fastbox is incredibly useful as a rapid buffer, for example, buffering

  • Fast-moving articles, to process fast-moving articles from the OSR Shuttle Evo
  • Order containers
  • Containers prior to sequencing and sorting, such as for a packing pattern calculation at the work station

Like the shuttle systems, the Fastbox is scalable in size and designed according to the proven principle of parts commonality. It processes containers, cartons and trays. The Fastbox complies with the strictest safety standards in the same way as the OSR Shuttle Evo and also has a standard energy concept.

Stacker cranes

Hundreds of our stacker cranes are in operation around the world. Systems using high-bay racking, silo type constructions and designs for use within a hall are available. The stacker cranes store diverse load carriers in single- and multiple-deep racks.

  • Pallets
  • Containers
  • Trays
  • Cartons

The projects we realize have huge dimensions: The rack line systems for pallet stacker cranes can be over 200 m long and 30 m high (roughly 650 by 100 feet). Stacker cranes are also ideal for use in cold-storage and deep freeze areas. Besides efficiently storing goods, the stacker cranes can also supply flow racks when required. Our stacker cranes provide outstanding energy efficiency and intelligent energy management. KiSoft or SAP® EWM by KNAPP handle stacker crane control, completing the all-in-one solution from a single source.
